Well I tore open my Port motor today......It had less than 60 lbs of compression in each Cyl. and wouldn't run worth a crap... Here is what I found.
So what do you all think??? Should I hone the cylinders and buy a hair bigger pistons or just lightly buff them and go back with OEM??
See any problems that Im missing??? I have ran about a half a tank of fuel the it as of this year and its using oil out of the tank so Im pretty sure the pump is working.....
I'll tear into it further today and hopefully get the jugs off. Ive ordered the Carb Kits already... (Mikuni OEM with seat and needle)

Have any quick ways to check crank?? The boat is using oil out of the tank and the one rave valve was caked in oil because the ring was hard and flat i guess....
Also whats your thoughts of putting an hour meter inline since I'm doing both motors just to know how much time is on them???

Pull the jet pump and drive shaft and spin the motor by the connecting rods with one hand on each. should be easy with out any rough spots. If your inner crank seals are leaking it would consume oil with no oil injection working

Oh and there are lots of hour meter options I would only put it on one cause any difference in time between motors would be marginal. Most just wrap arround a sparkplug wire and are internally battery powered. Mount that sucker in the engine bay somewhere

Well I got to doing some checking and guess what.........Well someone had left the oil tank in the boat to oil the lower end but had blocked off the oil injection for the fuel and didn't bother to tell anyone about that.....So I'm ordering the upper end kit and putting it back together and going back with mixed fuel!!!!

Both oil pumps are gone and the compression on the starboard motor was 110 on both cyls. So I had planned on doing that motor along with it the other side.

Pulled the other motor apart that had been rebuilt prior to me buying it....It has SBT 1.0 pistons in it very light scaring on the piston. Ordered new pistons 1.0 over and gasket set.. they will be here Tuesday....hope to have both back together and do a water hose test by Wednesday afternoon!!! This boat is going to be the death of me!!

Maybe! You are dealing with the fact that the po didn't know what was going on. He probably bought it cheap, then when he seen what a mess he bought, he flipped it to you. Seems like you have it sorted out now. Don't run too long on the hose. Best is to back it into the ramp, while still on the trailer, and do the minor adjusting there.

Good call I figured I'd just make sure it's going to start and run......I'm about 20 mins from a ramp. Prolly just like 2-3 mins a motor with mid to low RPMs

Well got it all back together too it out idled out of the no wake zone sounded great!! Took it down the lake nice and easy varying RPMS for about 30 mins. Had great power.....Coved out to let motors cool....Headed back to dock..at about 4000-5000k ....Port motor died and wouldn't start.....STB motor got us in and on trailer. Got home.....Port motor hard 30 psi and 90psi of compression:banghead:!!UGH STB motor has 110 on each... Im soooooo sick of jacking with this motor crap!!!:mad::banghead:
