Hi everyone. Got a old boat that ate some rocks last time out so gota re place a lot of parts. When I took it apart it was in a lot worse condition than I had hoped. One impeller shaft was rusted to the impeller and had a grove cut in it so did the other one. One of the other long shafts has some galling that barely catches on my nail. Would appreciate some expert advice.

1. Can the impellers be rebuilt? I know they do it with props what would it cost?

2. Should I reuse the shafts? They have a pretty good grove in them and the threaded part was really rusty and is a little lose when screwing together but tightens up fine. (pics)

3. The impeller case has some dings should I smooth those out leave them alone. Will it effect the pump?

4. There was a lot of black rtv around the pump housing is it a seadoo brand sealer? On the plastic pump cone there was a red loctite like sealer in around and on the o-ring area it seemed to seal well. Any idea what those two sealers were and where to buy more?

Further research shows that new impeller shafts have a grove in them??? whats that for?

Hi

#1 You can send them to SBT and get remanufactured ones for 50 bucks ea or buy a good set of props. 2nd option is $$$$
#2 If it rolls straight and threads clean up it should be fine. Ebay or classifieds if you want to replace them.
You can try pm'ing minnetonka4me or 99spxxx. They will have shafts from skis. Just have to match up the length of yours.
#3 Post pictures.

From the manual; "Install O-ring no. 23 to cover. Apply Loctite 518 on O-ring. Make sure spring and anti-knock pusher are in place. Install cover to impeller housing making sure to properly position filler plug on top side."

I used this stuff..

1) Yes, they can be fixed. I've see anywhere from $25 to $50. STB can probably turn them around the fastest.

2) They look fine to me. BUT... pictures are hard to tell. As long as they are smooth, and the seal will hold... you can reuse them.

3) Since you aren't building a race boat... the dings in the case wont effect you that much. The wear ring can be changed if it's ripped up. (The rubber and fiberglass ring on the OD of the impeller)

4) THe RTV is from someone who didn't know. You can get a neoprene seal that will seal the pump to the ride shoe. It makes the next service much easier. The only place you need some RTV is around the nipple for the cooling hose.

Thanks for the loctite post jeb. The 95 didnt have a anti knock pusher. Spring right? I cant even remember if it made any noise when it was idling guess we were having to much fun. I figured I needed new wear rings. What do you think about the impeller case? they are both just about the same damage.

OCOD not sure what brass VS plastic vein your talking about. Did you mean brass versus plastic? I guess that's a good thing brass is stronger. so I should just file the dings down just a little? Thanks guys you all are great its gona go back together a lot quicker now because of everyone's help.

Yup most regular pumps are plastic b/c its more forgiving.
People use the brass ones more in racing now I think??
