my 95 hx is chewing up the rubber between the pto an the shaft

my 95 hx is chewing up the rubber between the pto an the shaft.the theeth are worn if i was to fix them would this stop the problem?? an how much movment has the shaft from the pto to the next shaft

If your looking at the parts index, are you talking about the rubber boot #4? If so, do you have the plug #12 still in your pto? If not, replace the plug and check the splines. If your shaft has any radial (side to side) movement, then it will eat the boot again. You'll need to replace the defective part.
