This is my first boat and I made sure to do a sea trial and get a survey done. All checked out well. No issue on starting or running. Hit 55 mph, sounded good.

Bought the boat and immediately sent it for a fresh service. New spark plugs, oil and gear oil. Had an inspection done and got two recommendations. Oil sensor needed replacement, will give audible beep every 4 mins or so. Part ordered. Second was the exhaust hose needed replacement, also ordered. Other then that shop gave it a pass. Due to it being a couple of weeks before new parts arrived they advised me the boat will function normally (albeit with annoying beeping) for the time being.

First day out on water after service, everything was good. Took 3 tries to start but fired up. And ran well.

Second day, took approximately 10 key turns to get it running. This was discouraging. Anyone else have this issue? Is there something the service center missed? I just want to make sure I get the required work done and do my best to Make this boat last.

Not sure if the missing oil sensor is to blame or not. Any advice would be appreciated to this first time boat owner.

Thanks

So I'm not sure if I solve my problem or discovered what's causing my issue.

Today I took the boat out again and as I've become accustomed to it was taking multiple key turns to try to get it to start in neutral. After about seven or eight tries lt became frustrating so I started using the throttle to see if that would help. When I turn the key and push the throttle halfway the boat fired up immediately and began to move forward. I'm thinking I probably hit around 2000 RPM maybe 1500 on the tack.

So I'm not sure if starting these things in neutral is supposed to be easier or not or if I'm actually supposed to start the boat with the throttle engaged. Because it seems to start fine with the throttle advanced forward a little. However in neutral it's still a pain in the butt.

My only thought is that if it is supposed to start a neutral it's clearly a fuel delivery problem in my opinion. As when the throttle is engaged and fuel is being fed the boat runs perfectly. But if a neutral and no fuel being forced forward and it's a b**** to start.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. I have no problem starting the boat the throttle engaged and start up easier as long as that doesn't hurt the engine. And if this is out of the ordinary then of course I want to make sure I get the proper repair done to make this thing last as long as it can.
