MPEM Test

How can I test my MPEM, I have 12v to the coil but no spark, I have tried unplugging the MPEM to coil wire and still no spark.

Test your stator and compare the resistance reading with the specs in the manual.
Is your MPEM still the original one with the relays on it? What's your location? I might have a good used MPEM that you can try. Sometimes just a relay is bad. I do mobile PWC repairs in the Lower Mainland and on Vancouver Island but I'm expensive. I charge more than the dealers do.

I just replaced the mpem on my 95 xp. I first thought the problem was the starter relay, I tried tracking the wires and testing them with a test light called the power probe. This test light allows you to stick the probe into a wire and power that wire up. I did this to the wire coming off of the relay and it turned the engine over. After putting in new starter relay I still had the same problem, I followed the wire to the mpem and saw the mpem was getting power it just wasn't coming out of the mpem to the starter relay. I replaced the mpem with a used one off of e-bay and the problem was solved.

I got a new mpem with the ski when I bought it, both test bad, so does the regulator! I just bought a new electrical box off a runner.
