Hi there I was just wondering if anyone knew a good place to send an MPEM computer to get repaired. I have read here and there that there is people out there that can repair them. I have a 94 seadoo speedster and am having bad luck finding a used MPEM for it. This way I can just send out the old one and get it repaired. Thanks a lot!

There was one guy who was trying to rebuild them. But, I haven't heard about anyone doing them professionally in a year or so. They are a pain to get out of the potting resin, and guys break them, trying.

Your best bet is to wire in 2 PWC MPEM's.

Hi there, thanks for the response..as far as Ive read you can only do that on the 95's and up. If I switch 2 or 3 wires from one side of my mpem to the other I have spark. Does anyone know if I can just splice those wires and have both spark?? I don't want to try it and ruin something...I have heard the mpem was made separate so you could make it home on one engine if half of it fails..Im just thinking maybe you can make it run off of one side but im sure it will cause some kind of damage of some sort... does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

No, you cant trick the MPEM to giving spark to the other engine (to do that you would just feed the trigger signal from the working engine to the "bad engine" and trick it. Pr jump the coil trigger wires. Only, there is no way to time both engines, so odds are, it wont run. First off, have you verified the basics (test coil, trim plug wires back 1/4'', re-install spark plug boots, new plugs? ) Another thing to check is the pickup coil/stator.

I wouldnt condemn the MPEM until checking those parts out first. My bet is the pickup or something shorting in the stator housing.

What do you think is wrong with your MPEM?

Nick aka Minnetonka4me can test them. Last time I heard he charges $20 for the testing. He is in Minnesota, USA

Heres what is happening. I had no spark on the engine closest to the batteries. It ran fine last year, this year it would not start when I took it out of storage but before I used it I put a battery charger on it while the battery was connected, I did not know that would hurt anything. I switched coils and cdi's around in the electrical box and the good engine still worked and got no spark on the bad engine. I took the stator cover off and saw that the ground wire was burnt up on the stator along with a few melted wires. I bought a brand new oem stator and installed it. No spark at all. A friend and myself switched a few wires around on the mpem from the good motor to the bad motor and it then had spark. This is why I am assuming the mpem is faulty. I am not positive but we pretty much tried everything else. Any other suggestions? Thank you for your time I really appreciate it.

It can be really tough to remove a circuit board from it's potting, depending on what the potting material is. Epoxy is probably the most difficult, other soft potting materials can sometimes be dissolved and loosened using acetone without damaging the circuit board.

It would be interesting to know if you discover a way to remove the potting without destroying the PCB, Minnetonka has looked into MPEM swapping harnesses and has made a few, I think, so maybe he can help.

Have you done a continuity test on all the fuses?
