Motor alignment

I'm just curious. I'm taking a 951 out of a GSX Putting it in a GTX. Same motor. Do I need to purchase a 300.00 alignment tool ? Or is the alignment going to be the same ? As always any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you?

I was absolutely shocked how out of alignment my 951 was after 20 years. I assume the mounts sagged/compressed over time. I would recommend trying to rent a tool or at a minimum rig up a DIY solution to get it somewhat close.

If I’m taking an engine out of a machine where everything is working good with the driveline i will take the engine out, keep track of the shim locations and put everything back exactly how it was but if I was switching motors like you are I would use the alignment tool.

Doesn’t matter if it’s even the same ski. If the engine comes out you have to align it. Even putting the shims back doesn’t mean it’s aligned.

Thank you all for the input. Looks like I need to find a place that rents them or purchase it for a one time use lol
