More carb questions

Best way to clean this without ultrasonic cleaner? And what is the white scaly stuff? Is this saveable? I've ordered new genuine mikuni valves.

Should be salvageable. I would scrub it with a brass wire brush.

I have a quick question....I have a 2001 gtx 951 carbureted. I got the ski as a basket case. I just rebuilt the engine, but I'm not sure where the 2 crankcase vent lines go. I know one goes to the carb pulse, but the other one??

Other one goes to the RAVE valve solenoid.
