Missing oil line or just vent? Help!

1997 GTI, changing fuel lines and noticed this. Is there suppose to be a line coming off the nipple? its connected to my oil tank and Y's off with the oil line to the engine, not sure wats going on with this

It's just a vent.

it is a one way check valve to vent the tank, you are not missing a line

I see gray fuel lines though. you should replace those and clean your fuel system.

Speaking of gray fuel lines, I just replaced all the fuel lines on 2 94xp's this last weekend for a friend and they were in perfect condition. Not one hint of green slime anywhere. Just goes to show you that running real gas makes a big difference. I won't run ethanol in anything I own.
