ah jeez , back in June the front bolster seats were mint and no Mildew or Mold spots. yesterday I uncover the boat thats sitting indoors and find black spots on the seats bottoms. I don`t understand how this happened when the boat was clean, put away clean, Areo 303 protected and all. There were no spots back in June and when the boat sat in the garage in July. Finally got around to removing the new cover and firing up the boat yesterday and discovered the spots.

What is the best way to remove these spots?, so far Marine spray 9 and clorox wipes did nothing

Someone will chime in with a specific cleaner.

My advice is for when you store the boat.

Buy a cheap bag of charcoal, you don want good stuff as it has a coating to help light it.

Lay a plastic garbage bag on the deck, out the bag of charcoal on the bag, slice the bag wide open. Then cover the boat as usual.

The charcoal will absorb the moisture and act as the superficial lamb.

Next season simply throw it away.

I hear ya Joe, but this wasn`t the case here. The boat was recommissioned for this season and rode 3x. Then we relocated. Knowing the boat wouldnt be used for 6-8 weeks I fogged the engines and added stabil to the tank for safe measure.
The seats at this time were mint. now when I emptied the garage in location A, I put the boat with the poppy cover on inside the garage. When we made the last run to location B boat was in tow and at destination. Immediately placed in the garage and the rear portion of the cover opened up to breathe.
Yesterday when I was charging the battery and checking the boat to refire is when I noticed the spots on the seat...

just have no idea how this happened bc precautions were taken...

I don`t really dig these seats anyway, but would still like to clean them to new condition bc , well, we sit on them...lol...
I`ll be changing up the seating for a winter project.

I had Starbrite bags hanging during the winter shrink wrap and they worked great!

Thanks!

Da' Bomb right here, works like a champ on my yellow seats. Go hog wild and let it sit, then either wipe or wash off, just read the directions. Andy, those seat foams hold the moisture. I even take my seat foams out over the winter and put them in my shop attic, come spring I have little black dots again. It has to soak in, the mildew is through the material.

Get your butt up to Overtons

Take your CC out of your wallet LOL. I'll try and find out how, but my BIL has a 10% off card, but he lives right in G-Vegas 2 miles from Overtons. When ever we're down, we always go.

Here's a nice tid bit of info incase you get the munchies while your there.

Greenville, NC was named the nation's leader in consumption of fast food, per capita, of any other city in the United States. I think that has to do with ECU being right there, drunk College kids.

Wow! I would have guessed G-ville the top in consumption of crappy beer, like Natty light... or whatever the kids at ECU drink these days.

That stuff is the bomb, works great on your grab handles too. I'm not sure what Overton's sells it for but my local Academy Sports sells it for $ 7.99 a bottle which is the cheapest price I've seen anywhere.

Onto the original issue the mildew comes from a lack of airflow once your boat is under your cover along with the moisture found hiding in the seat material which is porous. A small fan placed under your cover when in storage will help alot. Your in the humid South now and things mold and mildew faster down here..

walmart has some cleaner in the "boating section"... about $5... smells like 409 with bleach and lemon... spray on, let sit, lightly scrub off with a rag and youre done... i use it on my seats...

man I would have loved to go to greenville and in Overton`s, but for 2 dollars more, West marine is in town... I`d burn 6x that in fuel no doubt...

Whatever you use, it's probably going to need to soak. The Attwood mildew and stain remover works really well too, a friend brought this stuff to the lake and sprayed it on my seats and wow, I didn't realize they needed cleaning. Last year I used spray nine and it worked but this Attwood stuff might be better, not sure.

Moisture and mold spores, these are everywhere, especially under a tarp that keeps em toasty warm they grow like mushrooms. Maybe a bag of charcoal would absorb some of the moisture?
