I am looking to rebuild my carbs before the season starts. I have the ever popular 96 Seadoo XP and a Tigershark Montego 640, both share the same carb kit. I notice there are aftermarket kits available as well as genuine Mikuni kits. Are the kits created equal?:bigear:

I would go with the Genuine OEM Mikuni kits. Also buy OEM Needles & seats for your rebuilding project.
Parkeryamaha.com has them along with several other companies...SBT doesn't have OEM.

Thanks Buddy! I have never rebuilt carbs before but I found a nice tutorial in here and it looks straight forward. I made a pop-off tester for the job also. BTW, what is the stock needle/seat size?

Another +1 to OEM kits only with OEM needles/seats. I had so much troubles with an aftermarket kit, could never get it running right. OEM kit no issues!

OK, for what reason did someone give me a "Thumbs down" for this post?

EDIT*****
My mistake. It was getting late and it was after work saturday night. I saw the number 1 in front of the thumbs down, so I thought it was that. After some advice from Matt, I hovered over it with the cursor Sunday morning and saw that it was a "thumbs up" instead.
Thanks to Matt and also subpower who gave it.

Before you waste the $$$ on a kit. Open them, and see if they actually need any new parts. I'd say... 8 out of 10 sets of carbs I get into my shop, only need a cleaning.

It doesnt look like you had a thumbs down against you it shows 10 thumbs up received and 0 thumbs down received. I had something similiar happen too. If you hover over the icon you can see who left it. Also if you click on tools on the top of the page and then click on notifications and it will show you who, when and what post someone added anything like a thumbs up, thumbs down, or if they found a post helpful. I check mine all the time. I had a brand new member on for like a hour leave a thumbs down on one of my post that said how many orings were on a 787 head cover. The guy never made a post and has never logged back on.

Thanks Matt, I edited that post (#5)
I guess you can learn something new everyday about this forum and working on Seadoos.

Thanks for the advice Doc! I will try this first. Is the ethanol additive, from Sta-bil, good to use regularly to prevent adverse effects?
