I was rebuilding my 4 Seadoo Challenger Mikuni BN-40i-38's and decided to take apart the throttle shaft plate assembly and didn't realize the throttle plate screws were peened on the back side. Long story short, I bent the hell out of the throttle plate trying to drill out the broken screw and damaged it to the point I need to order a new one. I have ordered over 3 throttle shaft kits that say they fit a mikuni 38/40 and all are different sizes then the one I pulled from my BN-40i-38 carb. Here is a picture, can one tell me if that is a choke plate assembly and not a throttle plate assembly? I can't find the replacement for this carb to save my life, if anyone can send me replacement info it would be greatly appreciated!

The one closest to the engine is the throttle plate. You need to file the backs of the screws to rid it of the peening. that's what I do, then I have the correct phillips oval screws in stainless that I red loctite in and then use a transfer punch and put a dink in the side of the threads for extra measure so it can't back out and fall in.

What part#'s have you ordered? And what year is your Challenger?

Matt Braley might have some old crusty carbs laying around cheap you can use for the shafts.

I still have yet to find a replacement throttle valve for this carb after a month of searching and calling over 10 dealerships and carb places. It is off a 1997 Seadoo Challenger 1800. You can buy the 38, 44, or 46mm versions however this carbs slide measures 41.2mm. It reads (140) on the slide, most I'm seeing online read 130 or 150. Does anyone have a replacement throttle valve laying around from an old carb?

Speak of the devil, MIKUNI called me back finally. They never made replacement valve shaft kits for this carb from what I was explained. They gave me a number for a used carb dealer in florida who gave me the number of a used jet ski yard in IL. NO LUCK, should have never touched the damn carb!
