mercury 240 EFI m2 Jet SMOKES

I have a 00' challenger 2000 with the 240 efi mercury and it's always smoked.
It doesn't smoke all the time just after startup or a period of idling (2 mins).
When I advance the throttle it leaves a huge ploom of smoke behind and the engine seems to be smoke free once on plane. I've had service preformed on it by a authorized tech and it didn't fix the problem. The tech said, " it'll take some time for the adjustments to take affect". Well it's been a whole season and still no luck. Also to add, the area around the exhuast ports becomes covered in this black shout like film. After the smoke is purged by the advancing of the throttle to WOT the engine performs well.

I have about 90 hours on the engine, running with Quicksilver oil, plugs and wires been replaced, using regular gasoline, fuel filter replaced every season.

Adjustments.......

There is a link rod that runs to the oil pump and synchronizes it with the throttle. Make sure with the throttle in the idle position the rod is adjusted so that the mark on the linkage, and on the pump line up.

Check the adjustment and see if this helps.

Aaron:cheers:

Download the manual for the M-2 and check page 2C-18 for a picture of the adjustment.

Sorry about the delay I haven't been on in a while but you can download the manual once you subscribe to the seadooforum. The download is under the seadoo manuals link at the top of the page. It is really worth it too! The manual is like 400+ pages and has everything in detail.

240 EFI smoke

I use AIMSOIL synthetic HP Injector oil and 91 octane gas. Seems to help a lot. I also clean the spark plugs often.
