Hi all, new to the forum and new to sea doo. I bought a 2002 utopia 205 and have ran it pretty good the last week putting nearly 10 hours on it. Today, when leaving the no wake zone, as I advanced the throttle, I got a long, continuous beep. The oil levels appear to be good and the intake on the bottom of the boat was clear. Any ideas before I take this thing to a shop here in Tampa? Thanks

Low oil (with light) or over heating makes it beep like that. Might have a plug in the cooling system. You have water coming out of the pee hole? It should be warm and might not flow till your up on the RPMs. Or something got into the pee hole and made a home. If you can get it out of the water and hook it up to a hose to test.

Update. I went back out today and checked the pee hole, oil level, etc. and it all checked out normal. I ran it again and got the same thing. When I got back to the dock, I shut it down. The mechanic at the marina came out to look at it and it wouldn’t start. Dead battery. He said that a low battery could cause it. I also found that info buried in a mercury forum somewhere. The thing is, I bought the battery last week. So if it is the issue, something is draining that battery. I did leave the battery shut off on one night last week by accident and I’ve also left the kill switch lanyard in the entire time. Would that kill the battery that fast? It has an auto bildge pump too so maybe that did it. I have no clue. I’m new to boating (obviously).

Low battery light would come on too if you have that switch on your dash. Not sure on the Utopia dash layout. The lanyard would not do anything to the battery. A bilge pump maybe, but it would be running near all day. If the tech thinks its the battery then test the charging system. Charge up the battery, grab a analog volt meter and see what volts your charging system is putting out. If your motor has the alternator then it should be 13 to 15 volts at the battery. With a stator,14.5@1000 rpm.

Quick test, if your volts don't go above 13 at any point then there is something wrong with your charging system.
