Hi All,
I have one rave valve plastic housing that is melting. The
wire holding snap is now too loose too hold the housing on.
The engine and all the pipes were cool to the touch and
good water stream in back. The motor also sounded pretty good. The rave blades have not been running long enough to get dirty .
Could a bad rave o-ring allow hot gasses to cause this?
I have no other ideas, can someone help?
It has been one thing after another and I really want to run my boat before winter gets here.
Thanks
LindaP

Hello Linda!........

Long time no see. .....

Yes, your "0" ring may be bad or you've got a leak in the bellows. If you pull the RAVE, you'll notice that internal ported hole, that sends pressure into the bellows. That is how it's open, then closes under spring tension. That pressure is "dead headed" so it never heats up. If the exhaust gases are allowed to pass through the port, then it will heat up the bellows and all that's associated with the RAVE system.

You'll need to pull and check the "0" ring and the bellows. You may spot the leak easy because of the oil.......It should have signs of where it is leaking.

Good to hear from you again.:)
