Melted rave valve.

On a 1997 Challenger 787 single engine boat which smokes on start up and while running terribly, found the mag rave valve had come apart at the spring holding the bellows together, what would cause this? Then the PTO rave valve had the nut broke or melted off which I replaced with a new solid cap and nut not rubber like the original rave valve and after a hour of riding, it totally melted to nothing taking the spring and red cap with it, before I replace these parts I would like to know what is causing this?
Thank you
Cliff.

Typically the o-ring is bad on the valve shaft letting too much hot gas up into the bellows and melting everything.

Try replacing the o-ring with a heat resistant OEM one.

If it still melts it's because the housing and valve are too worn.

Thanks again Mikidmac, will try these, Thank you

You will most likely have to replace the valves and the housings. The stem and hole it goes through are most likely worn out.
