My parents bought a 2004 Sea Doo Islandia 22' boat brand new back in 2004. It was only used TWICE! For the last 14 years the boat has been sitting in a storage unit. They have zero passion to use it or fix it up. Now that I'm old enough and have been saving some money, I'd like to get it back in the water! They are allowing me to use it whenever I'd like as long as I spend the money and time getting it repaired. I ain't passing up that deal haha. I have inspected the boat and it still looks brand new. Like not a spec of dust in the engine bay or anything. It's as if the boat was bought yesterday. The boat has about 20 hours of use time on it and everything on it part by part looks brand new in brand new condition. I dropped it off at the boat shop and they got an estimate back to me. The only reason I'm starting to question it now is because when I talked to the mechanic, he said that he checked the spark plugs and they were all good, that the only issues he really sees wrong is that the radio doesn't work and the fuel pump might be bad. The owner calls me today and says he sent me the estimate and on the estimate it says that all the spark plugs need to be changed. So now I'm investigating... Here is a picture of the quote. I'm just wondering if it seams fair enough and accurate for a boat that has 20 hours on it but has been sitting in a clean storage unite for a very long time. OH, also in the quote it says that it had 11 gallons of fuel sitting in it. Thank you for your time and expertise!

ht tps://iili.io/dbTleI.png Sorry I hope I'm not breaking a rule, I think I am but idk what else to do :/. Thread won't let me post the image of the quote because I haven't made enough threads. Here is the link, I put some spaces in between the https. Sorry!!

That sounds like it's time to shop for a new mechanic. I looked at your invoice and 2/3 of it is labor. You have the mercury 2.4 which I don't know a thing about other than it's expensive to fix. What makes you think the fuel pump is bad? Them saying it "might be bad" isn't very convincing to me. Spark plugs are about 2$ each and easy to get to on any of these I have seen. If it were me I would siphon the old gas put a new battery and fresh plugs and fuel in it and see what it does. Those are all things anyone should be able to tackle.

That quote is ridiculous. It's basically a new boat. Like Theguyinmi said, drain the old fuel out of it, put in a new battery and spray some fogging oil in the plug holes when you change them.
They don't mention changing the engine oil so I assume it must be a 2 stroke. If not add an oil change to your list. It should be under $500 if somebody does it for you.

Thanks for the advice! I just wanted to bump this one last time before I take whatever actions. I have to pick it up Tuesday or let them work on it because the boat is taking up too much of their space. If I do find a new mechanic it's going to take 2 months to get past their waiting list. I'm in a bit of a pickle... Any last thoughts on this being price gouging or fair?

I don't know where your located but season is pretty much over for a lot of areas. I would take it elsewhere. Keep us updated I have decided to start looking for a Islandia myself so I'm looking to hear how things play out.

Everything on that list is correct and 120 a hour labor really isnt that high....Boat mechanics are disappearing in my area and im surrounded by water..You can shop around for a cheaper rate or just take that list and learn your boat a little

Also 13.5 hours is what their systems says how long it will take and everyone will go by that unless they work under a tree
