Can someone with a trailer and a Sportster measure their trailer bunks for me? I think mine must have been replaced at some time and I think they may be too short or positioned incorrectly.

Please measure the entire length bunk.

Also, measure from the front mounting bracket to the front of the bunk.

Also, measure from the rear mounting bracket to the rear of the bunk.

Thanks!

Just replaced mine and used 8' PT 2x4's. Same as what was on there. I have a speedster though. When I removed the carpet from the old ones and threw them on the floor they just shattered.

One trailer has 7 and one trailer has 8 footers. Mine has 7 footers.

Should I split the difference and go 7.5 feet on my replacement bunks?

LOL. The reason I am putting thought into it is I'm not happy with the way the boat is positioned on the trailer. It seems like its too 'low' and I have to crank the winch to pull the bow of the boat up and over the guide roller. Or maybe i'm not backing the trailer far enough into the water.

Why do you have to winch the boat up to the guide roller? You are putting the winch strap underneath the roller right?

It's kind of hard to explain. When I back the trailer into the water, to what I think is the proper depth, the tips of the bunks are sticking out of the water about 1 foot. I then drive the boat onto the trailer and come around to hook up the winch cable.

When I attach the winch cable, the bow of the boat (the tip of which I marked in black, just below the front navigation light) is down at the level where I drew the longer black line. I then have to crack the winch to pull the bow (nose) of the boat up and over the black roller so that it ends up as pictured in the photo.

Is that normal?

As you may or may not be able to see, the rub rail is slightly ajar in the photo, I believe it has gotten that way over time as the boat is dragged up over the roller.

Any comments on repositioning the bunks? I carpeted the new ones last night and will install this weekend
