I have a project I'm starting and want to pic some brains to see if Im on the right track I bought a project 99 Challenger 1800 (I am posting this on all the sights I go on) I plan on putting twin 951's in it with some mild mods done and spoke to Glen @ Skat-Trak about the pump/prop stuff so now is the wiring I have the stock boat MPEM that I was planning on using to run the boat (lights, fan, radio, etc) and I have MPEM's and complete wiring harnesses from (2) 97.5 GSX's I aquired so I was thinking of wiring in each GSX-MPEM to the factory plug/harness wires that fired the original 787's I have the GSX black boxes as well so I planned on making my own wiring harness to connect to the factory one so the dess and starter buttons all work like they did with the 787's ......is it possible ?????

I'd have to look at a schematic, but I don't think you will need the boat MPEM. As soon as I turn on the battery switch on my speedster I can operate the horn, lights and blower without the lanyard attached. So, you can just wire up the gsx stuff and run dual lanyards I guess. Would be sweet to have both MPEM programmed for the same lanyard and just parallel them in so you have one lanyard. The only thing you don't get with the ski MPEM's is the neutral safety for the control handle and the low RPM rev limiter. Since you have everything it sounds like a doable project. A little glass work and your set. Probably have to get creative on the exhaust since it flips sides but I'm sure you could tig up some stainless tubing to reroute it.

Yeah I'm with racerxxx on the boat MPEM. On my 99 challenger 1800 all the accessories work when the battery switch is turned on.

Couple of questions:
On the 97.5 engines, weren't the carbs turned 180 degrees from later model 951's?
If the carbs are indeed backwards wouldn't that be a throttle cable problem?

You should start a thread on this mod. Would be great to follow.

I would love to talk more in depth (on the phone maybe ) about the boat accesories I wasnt sure why there were tied or how/if they were tied into the MPEM. But I also wanted them fused so I figured the boat MPEM woukd be an easy way to fuse the boat circuits ...Im ising 2 sets of carbs from a 98 so I can run the small factory oil injection cable and I am hoping the boats choke cable will be long enough to pull from the rear
