Hi,
Does anyone have an idea of how to mark my engine
so I know I am getting mine back after a rebuild. Company
agreed to rebuild mine and send it back instead of sending
something that is sitting on the shelf.
Yes, I have decided to give in and go for the rebuild.
If I knew a little more about how to rebuild and had
the tools I would do it, this just seems to be the best
alternative.
Thanks,
LindaP

Some companies will use much of your old engine like the cases and such, but use other items for the rebuild. I believe the engine serial # is stamped in the case already. If the company is going to warranty the engine anyway does it really matter? The Numbers should match on the engine cases, to the build of the doo just for record, and for description of engine. I hope this helps.

Yeah! what he says.

If you dont trust the repair shop, try another.

Hope you get it sorted Linda.

Prices!

Linda, these days, it's easier to find a remanafactured OEM replacement by an online distributer who normally have a 1 or 2 year "no fault" warranty. The 787 will run you about $850, which is considerably cheaper than to have someone rebuild yours. These companies can sell for these prices due to the high volume they deal with. I've personally worked with one such company on two different occasions while helping to fix a friends boat and PWC. Both engines purchased were the 787. Do a google search on Seadoo remanafactured engines and see what you come up with, shop around and check prices before you pay someone $1500 for a rebuild.
Oh, BTW, to go this route, you may find that you have enough experience to pull the engine, remove the parts like carbs, magneto and pto yourself. It's not really that hard to do.
Good luck!...........

hmmmmmmmmmm?

hmmmmmmmmmm....another "bump"!........I've got to get back in touch with the "hip" crowd. Never heard of this bump thing. I hope it's some good advice for the thread starter. I know that there aren't any "hijackers" in the forum, are there?
