I honestly cannot think of anything better to do at that time of night. To ANYONE's house, especially a cop.
They are boohooing that nothing criminal was done to warrant him confronting them. Last time I checked, banging on someones door in the middle of the night could sound a lot like someone breaking into your house.
Wow the guy tried to tackle the officer from what I'm reading. Sounds to me like he must have been drunk when driving away, giving the officer decent reason to chase.
If I'm up on my facts, this is the second homocide this year in Venice...where there hasn't been one in about 10 years prior.
