Making a move to the other side....UPDATE WITH PICTURES

Had a project GTI that I completely went through and thought I was going to keep it when not riding XP.

Sold it on ebay for a cool grand and offered 2nd GTI with newly painted hood and new black carbon fiber vinyl seat covering for another 1350.

Been eyeing a 2004 yamaha fx for ~3500 pending water test Tuesday hopefully after sale of both GTI's.

Or a yamaha 2006 vx for 4k?

Not completely sold on the closed loop systems on the Seadoo's.
One thing is a 2 stroke and then is a bells and whistle of a 4 stroke. I think/like yamaha simplicity.
Seadoo 4 strokes are mechanical ingenuity at it best.
;)

Thanks nam.

Nothing in stone yet. Need to get title in my name tomorrow before guy buys it.
Never bothered but he rather not take chance. Totally understandable since he driving from from Palm Coast to get them on a flat bed.

XP should stay in stable though. Don't think I could ever let that go for 1000+

Need to follow your thread more closely and buy a one or two more fixer and flip.
Season almost ready to start and prices and not getting lower.

nothing wrong with the FX, its no speed demon but its great on fuel, I mean really great on fuel.
quite honestly, when I head down the 4 stroke road, it will probably be with the FXHO, which i really like for the bells whistles.
which fx are you looking at the 110 or 140

w/o a doubt it has the larger engine w/o the SC.
More storage, bigger, different hood.
I'm not at 5000 price range yet.

After you sell the custom yellow w/blue flames you would be a little closer

140 FX Cruiser in red and other is in blue with normal seating.
I think I'm leaning more toward the blue one.
Comparison side by side is longer hull by 4" and wider by 1".
Fx has bigger tank and revs to 10,000 VS 8000 on the VX. FX Has trim and bilge.
I can do w/o stadium seating..

yip, its finally for sale !

honestly, the FX and VX, i've been on both, are both nice ski's, you'll probably be very happy either way. I only rode the FX once for about 10 minutes, found it to be quite stable, nice smooth ride, good ski. The VX I rode for a couple of hours on a Dolphin tour once, back water's and some really heavy chop, and it handled it well, overall I really liked it, top speed was nothing to brag about, but 2 hours into the ride the gas gauge had barely moved ! I don't normally pay that close attention to the 4 strokes, but at least in my limited reading, the Yami's don't have a laundry list of models that should be avoided due to supercharger issues, ceramic washers, drivetrain, etc...

good luck with your purchase !

I made the jump to four stroke resently. A friend of ours had a 05 fxho and it didn't really impress me. While I'm not completely sold on all the new tech but I do like the ride and speed of our new rxt. Not to mention it can turn pretty freaking well for a couch.

Its Final!

It was a sad day when I let my first seadoo go
:(

Both skis ran flawlessly in water test and guy seemed pretty happy w/them for 2300 no trailer.
The one w/orange hood had the temp warning go off but I think it was grounding itself.
He rode it to a spot no issue and then we switched riders/ski and it went off on me.
I opened seat and pulled wire and gone.
oooooops
:banghead:
I touched the head pipe and cylinder and it wasn't hot at all.
Similar thing happened with XP and 10 new buzzer took care of that.

Here are some parting shots

Then it was off an 1hr away as south as you would want to go in rush w/empty double trailer to buy a mint 2006 yamaha VX for 1300 more than I got for both GTI's.
:hurray:
Had been scouring CL with a narrow search option and this was the best out of bunch and took close to BO.
Here the new wife ski.

The last pic in garage is mammoth compared to what was on there before and getting it through 98" garage door is not going to be easy w/other ski on it
Tomorrow is the water test and upgrade to 4x4 wood bunks and order new wider better grade tire/wheel to carry weight.

congats on ur purchase oscar, i thought for a minute u were getting rid of ur xp, i was gonna say, u love that thing!

I've been looking for a 4 stroke project myself. And... like you... I really think the SeaDoo "Closed" cooling system is DUMB... and just adds expense. Not to mention... it's still pumping lake water into the exhaust... so if you are in salt water, it still has all the same old problems.

Open cooling is simple, and it works.

As you guys know... I like seedoo... but I'm not a brand loyal guy. I've had Yamaha, and Kawi's in the past... and I currently have a Polaris in the stable. (I wish they would have kept making skis and boats)

Anyway... Congrats on the new toy !!

Thanks nam/Dr.

Got say it would of not been possible for me to do w/o this site.
Thanks to everyones help and wealth of information on this site anyone can get their skis working.

Hope the yamaha boards are as good!!!!!!!

purple_people_eater , i'm just curious, what you didn't like about it ?. Granted when I rode the fxho it was comparing it to my yami XL760, so of course, I loved the dam thing ! Quiet, Fast, comfortable, although slightly lacking in storage bays.. But, I've really only been on the newer RXT's once, and that was for a very short ride, so its hard to do an apples to apples since the time between the two was a couple of years.

If I understand with SD you really need to stay with 07' and newer to avoid issues (limited research) which always put me out of the picture because the newer ones were pricey, granted now prices are slowly creeping down.

You should enjoy your new purchase ocod ! hope it turns out perfect !

Spimothy Leary mainly the handling, it just seemed wayyyy to loose to me. as far as 4tec problems( from what i understand) is on the 05-06 models the exhaust valve likes to kiss the rear piston. aside from supercharger issuse on the 03-09 models 4tecs seem pretty reliable. but all of those problems should have been fixed by now. and the non-SC'ed skis imo are not worth it. top speed is just like the 2-strokes just 3 times the price.

Not Again

Couldn't pass up up deal on another red 95 vx for 2750.
It passed the water test but when it got home. Look out.
The boat sat on a floating dock in a channel that on low tide became a mud pit.
It is a salt water ski for sure. Just about every clamp is rusted.
After several pressure washing later and can of PB it looks better...

Also, PO used some epoxy on the rear motor mounts that went un seen on inspection.
Once I pulled it off thankfully mounts are good. No idea what he was thinking.

I think the xp may have to go up for sale
