Hi to all
I have one SeaDoo Bombardier SPI 1996. The 5A fuse in the MPEM is burning immediately. When I disconnect the connector from the Magneto the fuse is not blowing. I have the manual but I need the Four pin magneto harness. Can I do some measurements without that part? From what I can see that is only to extend the wires for easier access. Does any one have some pictures of that harness? Or can some one provide me which wires to measure and what? The wires form the magneto are black, black/red, yellow, yellow/black. In the manual the wires form the harness are marked with different colors. Any suggestion?
Thank you in front.

It sounds like the rectifier as is bad as it is an over charge situation, and blowing the fuse. I'm on a friends computer so I don't have the exact specs to follow...but I believe if you use a multi meter and connect to the Yellow and Black/ Yellow wire, you should get resistance of 250 to 390 ohms...or real close to that number range. I'll try to get on later to give you the exact ohms reading required out of the 2 wires. If it is way over or way under that range, then there is a problem in the stator assy.

this sounds like stator or MPEM problem. the stator does 2 things. charges batt and provides orig spark signal to MPEM or CDI. just because you unplug stator plug and fuse doesn't blow, doesn't mean stator is culprit. a bad MPEM can act same way.

OK a small update on the progress of the diagnostic. So I measured the MAGNETO and the values of the coils are within the values in the book. So the MAGNETO is OK "by the book". Next I measured the parameters on the MPEM and the resistance between RED and BLACK wires is zero. In the workshop manual for this resistance is written that it should be more than 20kohm. So I guess there is short circuit between these two wires. Since the MPEM is sealed with epoxy (or some silicon) I'm unable to check the parts inside. So I guess I'll ask for a new MPEM. Any suggestions before I do that?

Thank you in advance

allthingscustom. he is the guy you need to see. he does the 5-amp-blown repair. only guy who does it. guaranteed repair. you can find him here and on ebay.

That is great. But the problem is that he is in US and I'm in Europe (in Republic of Macedonia). So I guess I'll try to do some repair by my self, and in the end I'll probably end up buying a new MPEM which is not so bad since the owner of the Jet Ski i ready to do so.
Thank you for the help.

fedex baby. the MPEM is about 4 times what he charges to repair. how many seadoo dealers are there in Macedonia?
