Magic eraser

I had some scuffs from skis on my sportster's body panels. Some were pretty bad. I spent 20 minutes with a magic eraser (retail cleaning product) which is equal to extremely fine sanding. It took the scratches completely out of the clear coat with some effort. Finished with a decent wax and buffed. Looks like new.

Funny you posted this. I just traded my Yamaha Sx230 for a new 2011 SP210 (and some cash). Prior to trading it, I used a few magic erasers to clean the seats and get rid of some marks that I thought were scratches from the bimini poles. Everything came out, and the boat looked better than when I purchased it. Almost made me second guess trading it, but the 2011 SP210 is awesome! I'm convinced $10 worth of magic erasers got me a few thousand more on my trade. I am curious what affect it will have on the gel coat, as I didn't use it on mine.

It didnt seem to take very much off. A light amount of pressure did the trick. I usually wax and use an orbital buffer on the spot after a repair. The Gelcote repair that one one of the members recommended was expensive but was a close match for the white gelcote on my boat. I have repaired 3 places now and have gotten great results.
