So this is my second windshield i made. This is not my finished product but it has gotten better. Im not sure how i feel about how it looks so im lookin for some feedback. Keep in mind the hood is taken apart so only the top part is shown because im painting it black and red. I made this one out of tinted because i thought it would look better with the black and red hood but i also made it out of clear. Any feed back would be appreciated. Keep in mind this is not the finished product.

O.K., please don't take this the wrong way. Like my Dad always said, "opinions are like rectums, everybody's got one". Personally, I don't think it's necessary, it's too big, and ruins the look of the boat. You have a sport boat not a run-about, use it for the purpose it was intended.

I think a agree with Lou.
But I also think you've done a great job on making it.

i disagree with the two above...

I'll start by saying that I've spent countless hours on boats over the years and there is no doubt that having wind protection, even minimal, is much better than having none at all. When we took my brothers boat out all the time we actually used to argue about who could drive the boat, and I know that at least on a subliminal level, the fact that the drivers seat had a small windshield factored in.

I think it will look terrific when its done.

very low profile, and the tinted version will blend well IMO

Nicely done.

now i'm curious, is this a complicated task ? I'll admit I haven't spent a lot of down time thinking about how to manufacture a windshield so now i'm wondering how much time and effort was involved.

Don't get me wrong, it looks like he has done an awesome job on making it.
Can't wait to see it as a whole boat and I hope you prove me wrong on the looks.

I'm also curious to know how he did it, doesn't look like an easy task!!

I should add that where I live we boat 12 months of the year. So I guess I can see where you guys are going with the wind chill factor.

First of all sport boat or run-about has nothing to do with why i was even attemping to do this. I first hate the front hood(a shitty helm for a sportboat) , second i thought this might be a way to make it look better, third i also just wanted to see if i could do it. In my mind i have a way i want it to look and im not there yet. The wind has nothing to do with why i was attemping this. This is very complicated and took so far about 40 hours. This took most of the time to create the mold to the exact shape of the hood. Also creating a oven the make plexiglass pliable took awhile.

I just wanted to see what everyones opinions were on the look of it. Not whether or not a sportboat or a run-about needs this. If my final product does not look right to me i will not use it. I seen a guy had a windshield made for his 04 sportster and it looked horrible it looked like a snowmobile. So i thought about it and knew i could make it look way better than that and got started.

I see it in my mind and i do it.
I have way to much time on my hands!

Sorry, I still don't like the way it looks, and I know you've spent a lot of time on this project, but it's just too much for a small boat, maybe if it was a Challenger it would blend in better.

Next time I'll just keep my opinions to myself.

Lou

Point well taken and I cannot necessarily disagree, except to point out that every man must know his limits and choose his battles wisely!

As consolation, I offer you with this thought: "To hell with elegance," the design team seemed to say, "It's a truck." And the designers probably had stopped caring roughly a decade earlier.
