Hi all.
Hope this is the right place.
I am sure a MOD will move it if not :)
Not only new to the forums but new to jet boats (And North America)
I am looking to get a 1997 Speedster twin 85 hp jet drive.
I am fairly mechanical and will be doing my own maintenance (Ex Pro Kart racer from the UK).
What should I be looking at when purchasing the above PWC?
I am familiar with Rotax engines as we race them in the UK on our karts. As well as 4/ Honda GX engines.
I know I will be paying double for all maintenance etc and that I will have twice the work to do on the engines. To be quite honest I dont mind I love stripping engines, carbs etc and getting them fixed, re-furbed etc.
So back to the Speedster.
I am getting it from a dealer and hope they will be able to tell the compression on all 4 cylinders. What number should I be looking at as good bad or in-between?
Can this PWC be started out of the water? (Told you I was new ;-))
If so is there any noises I should be listening for?
Will it have an hour meter on it?
How many hours a season is average?
Any other help would be much appreciated.
I think I am going to get this PWC for a number of reasons.
Rotax are awesome on pick up and seem much more fun than a single 4/ Merc or similar. The boat is about the right size for me and the kids.
I am comfortable with this type of engine.
And it fits my budget now.
Next year or the year after may well be a different story ;-)
Thanks in advance for any help.
