I had my boat out and it had been running great and pulling a tube off and on. Everyone was in the boat and when we went to take off the boat did not have any power. the engins would rev but it would not go beyond 5mph. I took it into a repair shop and they said that it had some seaweed in it but all they found were the ware rings were worn and needed to be replaced. I asked if they had done anything that would change the performance if I took it out again and they said no. I took the boat out again and it ran fine. Not enough power to pull an adult in a tube but definately better than before. Played on it all day with no trouble. (did not pull a tube). Took it out again a couple days later and it ran fine heading out into middle of lake. We stopped engines and drifted for a couple hours. Started back up and it was a repeat of the problem mentioned above - no power. Got to a sand bar and turned off engines, looked in the engine compartment and everything looked fine. Pushed the boat for a bit to get out of sand bar (the boat was off for about an hr). Started the boat back up and it ran better than it had all year. Got near the channel to take it in, slowed the engines, then when I throttled up again to add a little speed to take it in and again it did not have any power. (when it was acting up after drifting I started one engine at a time (by itself) and one sounded rumbly and wonderful while the other sounded a bit starved for gas or oxygen or something, it just didn't sound right. Any ideas what this may be or what I can check. I do not believe the ware rings being replaced will fix my problem. Thanks for any advice you could give!!

You are describing cavitation... but since it "Comes and goes".... it's not a mechanical issue. You have sucked up something. When you shut the boat off... the seaweed/grass/trash-bag (whatever) falls out of the grate, and you get your thrust back.

hey man wats up,

Were you able to get this issue resolved? I'm having the same problem with one of my engines. I have no clue as to what it could be. Also, when I accelerate lotz of smoke comes out. is this normal, anyone?

Dr Honda, Thank you for responding however I'm thinking there must be something more to it. I took it out this past weekend to Conesys Lake and it ran fine for quite a while, we stopped and hung out for a bit, ran fine again then the left engine lost power. Same as it did before. This time tho it kept stalling back out right after it was restarted. After about the 5th time it stayed running but still did not have much power. We went forward, reverse, turned if off for a bit, nothing seemed to help. This problem only seems to be with the left engine. I've noticed the last couple of times i've been out that the lever that controls the power to the left engine is not as tight also. Before I could let go of them and they would stay in place, now the right one still stays but the left one will move back on its own. As the person aboved mentioned, I also notice more smoke when the engine is acting up. Any suggestions??

Dickjorkey, no the problem is not resolved yet. I also see more smoke when the left engine starts acting up, when its running normal I do not. Please keep me posted if you find a solution. Thanks!
