I decided to took my boat out lake for some funs w my family/friends... It was hard time to start up. Turned out that i got a low battery which i got a new battery. It starts and all good. But, lack of power... so, i got it pulled out of lake and looked thru the impeller and took some size of half golf ball of weed. Was hoping that would be a problem... but, nope. I decided to look at "protection boot" when i squeeze it, water got out of the boot. Also, i saw some greases all over flywheel guard. So, i assume that i got a no good protection boot. Would that cause lack of power? the engine sounds perfect.

Any thoughts?

Sorry... Had to head off to work this morning.

First... yes... there is a good chance that it's your carbon seal. BUT... pushing on the boot doesn't tell you anything. When you did that... you separated the seal... and water will come flooding in.

Before you dig WAY into it.... check this...

1) Some driveshafts have more than one clip spot. Push the stainless ring back toward the transom... and if you have a second spot... move the clip, so there is more tension on the seal.

2) On the early boats... they didn't have a clip. They used an O-ring to hold the stainless ring. They eventually dry out, crack, and fall off. When that happens... you loose tension on the boot... and get bad cavitation. If you find this... then just put a C-clip in where the O-ring was.

Last thing...

Since this is a forum... all we have are our words. In the future... please try to proof read your posts. Your question above was very hard to read thought. Especially before I had a good dose of coffee. I'm not trying to sound harsh... but it's the truth.

Let me know what you find on the seal... and we will go from there.
