Looking for ENGINE COVER LATCH KIT 295 500 487 or anything else to lock up boat when going to dinner or leaving it for a short period any suggestions or alternative parts to lockup a 97 sea doo challenger
Yes at Dock, I live in the Sacramento CA valley which has hundreds of miles of waterway; Delta’s and Slews with all kinds and river shops and eateries. I would not like to think so, but do on the off chance I’m wrong and loose valuable equipment (GPS ect..). I would like to know that at least I stopped the opportunist thief. I know it probably a false sense of protection in today’s economy. But it is what it is. Thank for the response and as always the good information.
O By the way the hotter spark plugs (7s) work really good, I burn prefect now (Plug chop). That and the rebuilding of the RAVE Valves and a NEW water pressure regulator (seat was too bad to rebuild) has gotten me to 6800 RPM peak performance all day long (4hours of fun). I also realize that my boat runs it best at 7100-7200 RPM any ideas as to why I top out at 6800?
My RAVE values leak and spray a little oil after 4 hours. I think it’s the bellows top tensioner springs (old). I ordered news ones but still looking for way to really tighten (seal) the tops down; Zip ties? 10 cm width not long enough, water regulator bellows top tensioner springs? might be too big. Got any ideas?
Didn't the 90's Challengers have the engine cover release under one of the front pods like the 2000's Challengers? We just lock the glove box and both front pods and we are good to go. Other than the ski locker of course.
I take it the '97 Challenger has an exposed release?

“You don't want to seal the caps. They are on with a bail for a reason. If they are leaking... it's because of a poor seal at the stem O-ring. (or bottom gasket)”
-NEW O-RING with kit but will get new ones from SEADOO store near me Thanks.
Thanks for everything to help me restore this boat

When you have the RAVE's apart... make sure the housing isn't warn. If it's over-sized, from lack of maintenance... the new O-rings won't seal.
