I found a 89 model Seadoo that I'm looking to buy. Never owned a PWC, so wanted to just get something to try out.
What kind of problems did these older units have and what do you think I need to check before buying?
I don't mind working on it to keep it going but I don't want to sink a lot of money in it either.
It looks fairly good for its age and the guy says it runs. Not in the water and I don't think he's got the water hose hook up to test it now. Probably not a good idea at this time, 22 degrees out and he doesn't have a place indoors to store it either.

How much?

How much does he want for it? This was one of the first years Seadoo made the PWC's.......the engine is the 587. It's not super fast, but a nice, reliable engine.

Depending on how much he wants for it, .......you might have a good buy.

Do a compression test. As long as both cylinders are within 10 psi of each other and above 100 pounds, it's probably o.k. to get it........
