I'm currently checking out a 96 Speedster in my area. Says he's had it for a year and it's just too small for him.

It has a new bilge, new stereo, reupholstered seats, new starters, new batteries, new fuel lines, great condition, new tires on trailer, new lights on trailer.

I asked em about how it runs and the engines. Says runs well, 60 psi on both cylinders in each engine, synthetic oil. Carbs need to be cleaned soon. That's all he has for history.

He's asking $3900.

Thoughts?

It's a fun little boat. I think either you or the owner has made a mistake on the compression, it should be around 150 psi, the boat won't even run if it's 60. I would suggest taking the compression yourself.

I'm w/Lou. It may start out of the water but it will not start or run w/a load on the pump if at 60. Maybe 160.
Then it may leaking oil into cylinder b/c its been sitting.

Pretty much everything you said should be on any boat you pay over 3-5k for running.
Otherwise if compression low ea engine is 1k to replace plus labor.

Where in Florida are you.
I have a 1800 Sportster if sampler Speedster doesn't work out.
