Right now I have a Sony head unit with two Sony speakers $100 for the pair I'm guessing 50 rms at most with iPod 16 pin connection and still not enough when I'm parked at the sandbar. Now I have been looking into this set up JL AUDIO M650-CCX-CG-WH 6.5" with JL Audio M200/2 to drive them. Would this cut it so you can have a great sound at a good volume level and would I need to run two batteries or just get a volt meter to keep an eye on it? Thanks

I had the same dilemma a while back & choose to add 2 speakers in the bow of the boat & just wire them to the radio. This set up still isn't loud enough for me (I have 10 speakers & 800 watts in my truck lol) but, it has made a very noticeable difference in volume & clarity for right now.

I have those exact speakers in my boat. They are 2 months old and sound increadable. I'm taking them out to put factory in and trade up to a 230 wake. I'll need the component ones for that so I'd sell these. Pm me if interested. Look at my set up under modify "new owner"

To be loud enough to sit and jam outside the boat, I would go with 4 mid speakers and a pair of subs all hooked to an amp. A 2nd battery would be the best idea.

That was fast. I don't blame ya, the 230s are awesome. You gonna take a beating trading that 180 in so soon?

No beating. They're getting me into it for trade plus $2500.

That's why I'm going to do it. It's too good a deal to pass up.

I'm not sure about the sporster that you have. In mine, the 650 were the biggest that would fit. After hearing them, I can't see why you'd need the 770's at all. It's loud enough that you beg to turn it down, and it's crystal clear the entire time. I think the 770 would be best in a can mounted on a tower.
