I am looking at buying an RX DI with blown computer, Apparently the battery was hooked up wrong. Will the motor even turn with the bad computer(test compression), what should compression be at? never owned a seadoo what else should i look into?

Welcome to the seadoo forum. If the MPEM ,(Multi Purpose Electronic Module)is bad...nothing will work as it controls all the electronics. retail...about $1000.00 to $1500.00... to replace it

What year is it anyway?

so i would just need one off of an 03 RX DI, or are their submodels that i need to look into. Does everything work as a system meaning the Computer is matched to other parts. not quite sure what you are getting at.

yes.....it is.

He is exactly correct..........but if I were you, I'd leave that one alone. The DI (Direct Injected) models are very intricate and use a compressor along with several other sub components to operate the fuel injection system. Those who own them and keep them up to date with maintenance, say they scream like a banshee. But, since I've been in the forum, the DI is the most hated by owners than any other type ski. If you want fuel injection, buy RFI (rotax fuel injected). This is a simple system and has a lot less to work on.

If you know the MPEM is bad, if you blow big bucks replacing it, what else is wrong. A lot of the time, the MPEM blows because of some other reason. That's why it's important to get to the "root cause" of problems with these skis before something serious (like blowing the MPEM) happens.........

Say "no" to this one and look for a naturally aspirated ski or one of the RFI skis. If your looking for power, the 951cc is the largest 2 stroke Rotax made before going 4-TEC, ........but what ever you do, stay away from the DI!

yea i have found a few used ones ranging from 450 to 750, i was looking at grabbing this ski and running it for half the summer and then lettin it go, and make a few hundreds bucks in the process. but from what i have read about the DI seems like i might be sinking more money into it then i will get back. so chances are i might be stepping back from it.
maybe i should just stick with my good old tigershak, sank it about 5 times and never had an issue. but on the other hand my other one while breaking it in from a rebuild sucked a screw into the intake and got the washer embedded into the side of the piston. :(

Signature...

I just changed my signature because I sold my Tiger Shark last week. It was the 650cc model and like yours, sank about 2 years ago. The previous owner just left it at the dock, half submerged. I got it from her and tore into it. It ran for another year or so before I gave it up. I have to say, Artic Cat came up with a pretty good PWC............

Yeah, walk away from the DI....I always hate saying that when someone finds a good deal but from my experiences in the forum, I'd rather be honest than to see you come back with problems, looking for answers!.........
