Pro and cons of each ski?
It will go on my double trialer with my 01 XP

Are there any issues with the RFI?

I know the GTS has a single carb and can be adjusted and cleaned EASY!

Any known issues on either of these skis to watch out for?

Hands down!.........

Oh dude!.......hands down the GSX RFI. The 787 fuel injected engine has got way more power than the 717.

The RFI is a really dependable injection system, patented by Rotax. They developed this system to inject fuel in a low pressure area of the cylinder. Unlike the DI (direct injected) which uses a high pressure air compressor to overcome the compression stroke, it has way less sub components and is a lot less maintenance.

I'd go with the GSX, hands down!.....

What do you think1999 GSX with 93 Hours in GREAT SHAPE...
2300 with Trailer and cover?

(Does anyone know how it will handled/accelerate compared to my 01 XP 951 or my old 97 SPX 787 dual carbs?) I LOVED MY SPX!!!!

Sounds good....

That sounds like a pretty good deal, being it's in great shape and it measures up to a compression test. Make sure.....that you do the test. This is the single most one "must do" when getting a used anything with a motor in it.

What am I looking for 130 or better correct and equal in each cylinder?

What size guage do i need to get? I have a few for Autos in my fathers shop but i don't know if they have the same size plug hole?

Also anyone know on the handling and acceleration differance VS my 97 SPX or my 2001 XP ?

Compression gage...?

These gages are universal.....one fits all. The only thing you need to look at is the plug size. They all come with the adapter for plugs that have the long shank verses the short shank. Do not use a long threaded shank on the short type spark plug because the piston will strike the gage adapter on the upper end of the TDC position.

Pressure should be at a minimum of 110. It would be excellent at 140 to 150. But most importantly is that you have no more than 3 to 7 PSI difference between the two pistons................

Thanks....

I may end up passing on the GSX...

I found two other skis...

#1 2001 Yamaha GP800R for 2650 120Comp. and 118Comp. CLEAN SKI

#2 1996 Seadoo HX know nothing about this one yet... around $750

What do you experts think on the three skis??

GSX GP800R and HX????

Keep in mind it will be my Wifes SKI for the most part...

Gsx?...

What thru you off on the GSX RFI? That's a pretty fast ski. The HX is nice. It has the smaller 717 engine. There is no balance shaft so you've got fewer moving parts, less to take care of. Carb instead of injected.......so, for your wife, that may be a way to go.

I don't think it's a ski easy for two though. I think its mostly a one person ski. The GSX is well balanced for two......

I really don't know anything about that specific type Yamahammer....so, I'm in the dark there.........

I went with the Yamaha...

99 GSX with 93 hours for 2300

01 yamaha GP800R 174 hours (0) on rebuild (done by a friend of mine) 2650

BIG STABLE BOAT for the WIFE!! (trading him the HX i bought for 800)
