Locked Up Engine?

I'm not sure what happened today. Riding along in deep water at about 30 MPH in my 2008 Sea Doo Challenger 180 SE when it just shut off. I thought I heard a clunk at the time, but I'm not sure. Tried to crank it back up and the starter would click and engage, but not turn the engine (Battery is fine). After trying twice, now the starter does not engage, but you can here it spinning.

I thought maybe we sucked something into the impeller. Checked it, but it looks clear. Grate is clear. Everything seems OK, but the starter just spins. Any ideas what it could be? How can I test to see if the engine is locked? Is there a simple fix that I don't know about? I'm not sure how to start to troubleshoot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK... just went back to look at it. The impeller will move, and it kinda turns over. The deep cycle battery does seem weak now and its only a month old. The boats got 230 hours on it. Anyone think it could be the timing chain? I also got a PO344 error which is the camshaft sensor.

The good news is my extended warranty expires on July 25!

If you have a warranty, just take it in and let them deal with it. It does not really sound like a simple fix. I would put the battery on charge though. It probably just got drained from trying to start it. Be careful not to hold the starter button too long bc you may burn up your starter. I am assuming that you have oil in the engine. If you ran out of oil, kiss that engine goodbye and good luck with trying to get Sea Doo to cover that warranty. Check the fuses for the fuel pump. I do not really think it would be the fuel pump bc it would fizzle out, not suddenly shut off, but gives you something to check. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

It has oil. It is actually turning over now, just not firing. I gues it could be a bad sensor and it just shut off to be safe. The first thing I checked was the oil and it's ok. I'm taking it to a dealer, it's just hard to sit and do nothing.

Figures it's happen right before the fourth.
