I want to make sure my high speed adjusters are turned in all the way.

I have a 1996 Seadoo GTX 787cc.

On the PTO carb, or the one towards the rear of the ski, I am pretty sure I found it. Its just like a rubber plastic adjuster, that you can use a flathead screw driver on.

However on the Mag carb I am not postive that I found it.

What I found is an adjuster, in about the same location as the other carb, however, it has a "t" bar on it, unlike the other carbs adjuster. The only thing I can think of, is yes this is the high speed adjuster, and they put a "t" bar on it, so it can be adjusted. If it was a flathead adjuster, there would be no way to adjust it without taking the entire airbox off, and maybe even gas lines.

Am I right?

Front carb high speed is "t" bar, rear carb is the slotted plastic like flat head adjuster?

1996 GTX 787...

Thankyou for your time....

The high speed adjuster has a plastic cap on it to allow it to be turned only 1/4 turn. Leave the cap on it. The low speed adjuster has a pin through it and should be adjusted to "1 1/2" turns out for the basic adjustment. Both carbs should be adjusted the same to be in sync.

still dosent help

Thanks for the reply, but It dosent help. I know the whole plastic cap thing...

My pto carb has that, and the adjuster is on top. So I go to the other carb "mag", in the same location to find its high speed adjuster.....

what I find us a "t" bar adjuster, and its in the same location, as the high speed on the other carb.

The only thing I can think of is, this is an adjuster for something else, but what?, ir they made it that way, because otherwise, you would have to take off the entire airbox and gas lines, to adjust it, if it was like the other one "flathead adjustment"

I sent you a pm on the subject. The t bar adjustment you are refereeing to is the idle speed adjustment. You should remove the air box and get a look at what your doing so you will know next time. You might still need a mirror to get a good view of it.

Or someone put the low speed screw in the high speed location and vice versa. And if that's the case you need to correct it.

wrong again.. :(

Acutually, its not the idle adjustment. The idle adjustment, is on the bottom, front side of the mag carb, and yes is a t-bar, just a stopper for the throttle plate, thats how that adjustement works.

So, I still have no idea what this t bar adjuster is....

Like I said, mag carb, right on top, same location as the high speed adjust on the pto carb. Only difference is, this is a "t" bar, the pto carb is the slotted plastic cap......

low speed screws are on the bottom.....

and no one put the low speed screw in the wrong place.. I know this because, both low speed "t" bars are on the bottom of the carb, I looked with a mirror.

Then someone may have merely replaced that particular one with a screw that has the T bar. If that's the case then it just operates the same.

PWC doc

PWC doc.... thats what I am thinking, I think someone put it there, so it would be easier to adjust.... If it were the slotted adjustement, it would be impossible to adjust without taking the entire air box off, and that would be stupid as it should be adjust out on the water...

Now, the pto carb, you can get to easy with a screw driver...

Thanks...

I just wanted to make sure there not another adjustement screw I didnt know about....

As long as you have "stock" carbs you only have 2 speed adjustments per carb, and 1 idle adjust screw.

If I am not mistaken, the cap is to limit the movement to 1/4 turn for a reason...that being that you really shouldn't be adjusting it, right?

Not like other adjustments that you may do periodically on the water, the high speed is pretty much a "factory preset" and shouldn't be messed with except under extreme circumstances.

I could be wrong, but that is the way I have interpreted the book.

pictures?

does anyone have or know where I can find a picture of my carbs, showing the high speed adjusters, so I can compare, and see whats going on with mine.

P.S... the reason I am adjusting them is because, I ported my motor, re-jetted it, but forgot to check the high speed adjusters when I had to carbs off, I dont want to pull them again......

If I remember correctly, those need to be turned all the way in, not tight, but just closed. 0-1/4 turn out is the spec, I think (did them last year on two different engines).

PM me your email address and I will scan and email those pages out of the book with diagrams and suggested initial settings.

The High speed screws are set to "0"' The 1/4 turn is if you really want to tweak it. In a stock machine there is no need to turn them out from "0". The reason is because seadoo used a carb that was already in production from Mikuni. It is perfect set to "0", rather than build an expensive carb for their seadoos where as this one works perfect.
