on the rotary valve shaft, will the valve gear turn when cranking over? or is it cluthed to engage when started? would hate to pull motor when only valve and cover are bad.......... the reason i ask is, when i put a bolt in gear and turn it cranks the motor over to... leaving me to think the crank gear is good and shaft is cluthed.:stupid:

the rotary gear shaft is meshed to the crank and times the rotary valve to the piston position in the cylinder. The manual has a great picture of the location and what it connects to.
