Hey guys, I kno its not good to leave ur ski in the water, but i beach mine up pretty good so hardly any of the ski is left in the water, its all basicaly on the sand, i make sure to kill the engine early so i dont suck stuff up...... but ive been doin this for 5 years and it seems fine, so is this ok?

It's tough on the hull, but if it is out of the water, I would say it would be the same as being on a lift. Personally, I never let my hull touch anything, but water or bunkers. Either the bunkers on my trailer or the skids on my drive on lift (picture in avator).

yea i agree... i dont let anything touch my hull except my trailer....I mean if you have a mint hull...why would you beach it?? Any sand will scratch the hull...no matter what ppl tell u... Sand is like sand paper.

If your ski has a million scratches / wear & tear on the hull..then i guess beaching it and adding 1- extra scratches to the already 1 million scratches on the hull wont make a big difference...

BUT...if you got a brand new ski or a mint ski..with no scratches... i dont recommend beaching it..

dont do it. Just load it up. Wipe it down too. Keep your ski looking good and take care of it.

Never ever leave it in the water though. My neighbors leave theirs seadoo in all summer. Bad bad bad bad.

well, there older skis so i figure, why not? Both hulls are in GREAT shape with hardly any scratches.. and wen i take them out at the end of the season, I clean the bottom with this great hull cleaner, by starbright.. its called EZ on EZ off.. or sumthing along those lines, It makes the hulls shine like new!

Have you noticed any of the aluminum on the machine starting to get eaten up at all? If not then I wouldn't worry about it.

I am also thinking of leaving my 93 & 97 XPs in the water (Delaware River) for the summer. I had them one on the dock and the other on a hoist but the wife says it's to hard to get them in the water. I am planning to install auto bilge pumps in. The only thing I can see happening is the hull getting dirty and slimy.
Any other problems I might encounter?????? (oh yea easier to steal)

Over time the water might deteriorate the aluminum parts. Boats have bare aluminum blocks on the engines to prevent (forget the name) the props and other aluminum parts that are in the water for extended periods of time.

If it is a blackwater river, your hull will not only get dirty and slimy. It will get stained. The stain is removable, but it takes a layer of gelcoat with it. You have to use a cleaner with acid in it. I left my Key West in the water for the month of July last year. After the wife and I finished cleaning the stain and algae from the bottom, we both agreed we never wanted to do that again and sprung for two drive on lifts. (See my avator) One for the Seadoo the other for my Key West. They are as easy to use as leaving the craft in the water. Drive on, slide off.

First off .....sorry for hijacking your thread seadoo GTS 1993 but it's a good subject. The Delaware river is fresh water but it does get dirty during heavy rain. These are old skis and prescratched and they will get a little stained. The river changes level allot during the season so any kind of stand that contacts the bottom will not work. The floating type made out of plastic blocks will get jammed up with float debris. So the only choice is on top of the dock or floating and connected to the dock.

On one of my skis, on the jet nozzle, the black is kinda coming off and its a little corroded, by thats happpening on the 93 Gts, figuring the ski is like 15-16 years old, im not to worried about it

The dock is on plastic barrels. It has large opening so when tree branches, tree limbs and tree trunks come floating down the can go through and under the dock. If the flotsam has no place to go it will jam up in front of the dock and cause a great deal of stress.

So far theses are things I found jammed in the front or under the dock. Small boats, 5 gal fuel tank full of fuel, a deer (stinky!!!),docks and dock parts, traffic cones, beer cans bottles jars ropes plastic pipes and tree parts since some people like to dump all their yard junk on the river banks.

What would be a good bilge pump to install in my skis?

As far as removing stains there is some stuff at wal-mart called iron out that is amazing, its just washes the stains off.I have been using it on my ranger for 4 years with no adverse effects. It's in the houdehold cleaning section.

The skis have been the water for two weeks now. The river has been dirty due to allot of rain so there is a dirt ring around the hull and som hairy things growing on the jet. So you know what that means.... I have to ride more!!!!! and take the scrub brush with me.

I got this stuff @ walmart alled Hull cleaner by Attwood. Spray it on let sit for two minutes and spray it off. $8.00 and change worked real good on the boat. Had this water line on the hull for three years and I tried everything. Soft scrub, rubbing compound, I mean everything nothing would take it off. Sprayed this crap on and it came off with no scrubbing. Awesome.:hurray:

Update, So far ive been leaving them in.... my new jetski (95 spi) the hull gets a little dirty from where water is touching it, but it rubs rite off, so i usethe starbright stuff and clean it everytime I go up north.. Hull shines white after being cleaned...

As for the 93.. That hull is pretty dirty, and sense ive been leaving it in the water for 6 years, the hull is kinda stained that greenish/yellowish color... but when I use that starbright stuff, cleans up pretty decent for a 93

i live on a rather large private pond(about a mile long) and i keep my 97 xp in the water all summer. bottom never gets dirty cause the water itself washes it off. when it does get dirty, i flip it over in the water and scrub it down with and sos pad =] works awsome

I don't see any problem leaving a skii in fresh water
I would think any algae that would grow in the pump would get washed out. Salt water on the other hand I will leave my ski in for a week at a time and havnt had a problem with algae or barnicles
but I run it every day

exactly, also before i forgot to include the fact that is is a private pond and the pond comitee raises money each year and get the pond sprayed for weeds, so there really isnt much that could grow, besides lilly pads on the opposite side of the lake
