I am told both motors in my 97 speedster have main crank seal leak. I am only owner,a nd boat has less than 100 hrs.
Is there a better way than spending $3500 to repair? Are there crate motors that would cost less?
Seems a shame to drop $3500 in this old girl.

how bad does it smoke, and for how long after starting it up? first sign of seals going is a big cloud first run-up of the spring. when it gets worse, it smokes pretty good first start of the weekend. then first start of day. always clears out in 2 to 5 minutes. once it is past this point, and it smokes constantly, then you need to do the motors. SBT is the best deal, as long as your cores are not destroyed. yours sound perfect for them. buy the motors for 8 to 1200 (each) and put them in. if one smokes bad and one a little, just do the bad one this year. if you are pretty mechanically inclined, buy cranks and do them yourself.
