What is the process to fix the cord on a DESS key?

The yellow part is just a float. The cord passes through the float and then loops around the part that snaps onto the DESS.

So buy and aftermarket lanyard that is NOT a DESS system as it will be much cheaper. Then put it together...

I bought one of these which is similar to the link above. I uncrimped it (is that a word?!) and took the generic key off and put my dess key on and crimped it back together.

I think "Uncrimped" is the technical term...

The uncrimping of a cheap lanyard is probably the way to go. I was wondering more if there was a place to buy the coil cord uncrimped to use on the DESS cap.
