Lake Cumberland

I am looking to jet ski and camp for a few days. Where are some good places to stay and have fuel close....Plan on roughing it on Lake Cumberland. Wanting to cruise for a few miles, play around, cruise (2000 XP and RX) Any ideas?

Have you considered Laurel Lake? They have some great boat in (accessible only from the water) camping areas, semi improved, running water, port-a-potties no electricity. Try looking on line, camping areas are; Grove, and Holly Bay.

Laurel Lake is one of two KY clean water lakes, the other being Dale Hollow. For families it can't be beat, however if you're single and want to party Cumberland Lake might be a better choice.

Looking to drive down on a Wednesday night then spend thru Sunday and head back to Indiana. Just trying to figure out where its easiest to fuel up because the skis drink some gas. Have you had any luck strapping gas tanks to the skis? Planned on packing the compartments on the XP and RX with sleeping bags and food.

I thought you might be planning a trip for next summer, you know it ain't exactly spring here yet. The forecast is fairly warm but rain is in the forecast. You would probably be better off at Cumberland, unless you are absolutely stuck on camping out there are a lot of empty motel rooms in Somerset and Burnside, the Buckeye Navy rents them in the summer, so you should be able to get a room cheap. Plus gasoline will be more readily available at Cumberland.

Conley Bottoms has a nice camping area. There is a marina there you can get gas at. I stay down there and camp and boat out of there at least once a year. It is also the marina that is probably the easiest and fastest to get to off the highway (75).

Is it hard to get in to Conely Bottoms? They dont take reservations.

Ive been able to drive down there in the summer and they have plenty of camping spots open. Some weekends like memorial day weekend you might have trouble, just get down there early on friday. Its a nice place and really cheap. I think like 30 bucks a day gets you a tent spot and a slip for your boat.
