i saw the thread on MY seadoo is a pos or whatever he thought it was......i am not like that guy. i know there will be problems and things to fix. that is with anything really. even new sometimes.

i just bought one that is 15 years old...1995 speedster. thing starts right up. i did not do a lake test, nor have i checked compression (what is normal compression). i only paid 2k, so i didn't really care. he said it floated and ran. well it runs. don't know about float yet.

so i plain to take it out for a test run to find the areas that will need my attention. anything i should listen for, look at, etc.....

i thought that it had been rewired for a single battery only to find the second, more port side battery on its side.....going to go throw some Backing soda down today and wash out the bilge area really good. i have the straps that hold it down, but they were in the storage bin, alot of good they do in there previous owner!!

it smells like oil/gas when i open the hood too, is that normal. it is pertty strong, but the only thing i see leaking is the oil injector tank. i'll have a look over the shop manual for that too (i have the 1996 manual, hope it is similar to my boat). but i will post a picture of my injector tank because it looks like a hose is supposed to be hooked up at one point and there isn't one.

what attaches to those two red capped things for flushing the motors? am i missing something there?

i adjusted the gates too, on the port side the linkage was bent a bit, so i fixed that. the gate itself had been heli coiled....but it seems fine. the port side locks in forward, but it is loose feeling. the locking arm that the linkage hooks too seems very loose comparded to the starboard side. the starboard side is perfect and tight. it looks like there is a washer missing or something that takes up some slack with the bolt that holds that locking arm on.

what are those curroding disk things on the jets.....they look like sacrificial metal, but i could be wrong. there are 2 on each jet pump outlet.

if i could make one suggestion to this website it would be a project blog section. a place where one could keep all of there progress on the fixing/restoration of their said boat. it has been very valuable to the Packard community with my 1955 Packard restoration. helped alot of folks. idk...just thinking out loud....sorry i know i am new here, but when i have an idea i like to share it.

i'll post pictures of all this when i take them tonight. sorry this is so long. and sorry to admin, i just realized i put this in general discussion.....probably belongs in technical.

have a great day everyone.

the blog idea is awsome. lots of good info could be found in them. packards are pretty cool! I would dl a shop manuel should be lots of good info in there. the red thing is a flush fitting seadoo trys 2 stick ya with having to buy a connector that hooks up to a hose for running/flushing out of water. I actually broke the fitting and had to build my own flush tool i like mine better because i put an on off valve on it. If you have your seadoo running out of water and the engine dies and hose keeps running you can flood out your motor. I dont have to worry about that because i have a simple valve thats easy to get to.

Just read through all your post!

I also have a 1995, however its a sportster, which is a single engine 85hp 657x.
Which by the way im having it being rebuilt as we speak (keeping my fingers crossed everything would be ok.

I have the manual, but I dont think I have the shop manuals, I think if you become a premier member you can get those here......

I love your idea about pictures, would be great, I do that in the other forums as well, like step by step guides on how to remove stuff and etc..

i just like to keep track of my progress in one single thread, its easier for me and easier for others to find the info fast. here is the link to my Packard blog: http://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=653&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&type=&mode=0&start=0

i didn't see the 1995 manual listed for being premium on this site. i have the owners manual, but not the shop manual.

i have found the 1994 and 95 PWC shop manuals, but not the boats yet. i have the 96 manual for the boat, which apparently wont do me much good since things are different that year to mine.

Luckysaturn13: i figured out what those red tipped things were for in the users manual, but i don't have the tool to hook to them to flush the motors out. guess i'll have to get one of those.

nuetralized the battery acid, fizzed up so i new it was working with the baking soda and water. its good now.

compression tested and all four cyclinders were 135. still not to bad yet. i am guessing normal new is like 150 or so.

i'll start a new thread called Hankzter's 95 Speedster and we'll go from there with the pictures and such.

I never once even heard mine run, much less did a lake run. It was totally covered in green algae and snakes were living in the engine compartment.
Without this forum and input from other members it would probably still be in the same condition.
It's now the envy of the lake.

With some patience and no fear of getting dirty, if you listen to what's advised to you, you can repair all issues you have with it.
Just wanted to say thanks for everyones help!! :)
