Ok I just purchased the remote control for my Jensen Radio, I know I can get a better radio, but Im not ready to screw up anything on the boat since I might sell it in 2 years (maybe cuz I love my boat).

So I ordered this:
http://www.jensenmarinedirect.com/jensen-waterproof-wired-remote-control-with-display-398.html

but I found almost the identical thing on the Jensen website:
http://www.jensenmarinedirect.com/jensen-waterproof-wired-remote-control-with-display.html

Does anybody know what the difference is? thanks!

The one difference I see (and maybe they both are but it is not listed in the details), is that one is rated at IPX-6 water proof rating.
Here are the levels...

IPX6 Waterproof Standard
Protected against heavy splashing and rain – Must not fail or show water seepage when exposed, but not immersed.

IPX-7 Waterproof Standard
Protected against short duration of water immersion. Max immersion for less than 30 minutes and at a depth of less than 1 meter. IPX-7, while water resistant is still not recommended for swimmers as a precaution.

IPX-8 Waterproof Standard
An IPX8 designation is for continuous underwater use. The best rating for sport / gps watches rated for swimming.

Well,, after additional reading..

They both carry the same waterproof rating.

The difference is, the 200 series is a newer version and is compatible with all of the JMS radios, the 100 is compatible with many but not all.

Well I just found out the HARD WAY...

Do not buy the 200 series, its NOT compatible with the MSR3007.. got me really upset, I went out to do the installation, thank God I didnt drill any holes, but when I went to plug it in... completely different END, so reading the fine print, my MSR3007 is NOT a JMS model (even though it is a Jensen Marine Sirius radio)... wow thanks a lot, big heads up to the Geniuses at Jensen for pointing that out on their website.

So now I have to return this item, was planning to go out this weekend, but its ok, I guess I can live without a remote control, but this sucks, they should have it in big letters on their website and everywhere, something like this:

(NOT COMPATIBLE WITH MSR MODELS)

also take out the word:
(COMPATIBLE WITH "ALL" JMS MODELS)..

it is a little confusing, since my Radio is a Jensen Marine Sirius just wrote out differently.... :(

They are the same size and mount the same. Use the one you have as a template to go ahead and make your hole. You can get either of them on ebay for 79 with free shipping.

Thanks, but I would hate having an empty hole.. that would just really piss me off.. so that was good, now, I would like to be a little different.. I think i like the 150
