found it on craigslist, mint condition, went over checked everything out, he wanted $4200.00 but i crawled on the ground and found that one of the impeller blades has a bent lip so i talked him down to $3800.00, seats are newely reupolstered, did a compression test both cylnders were exactly 135 with a check tester, couldnt take the boat for a ride he lives in town, but he hooked up the garden hose and started it then turned the water on, it popped right off, sounded really good, he said your not suppose to turn the water on then start them, and when you shut them off turn the water off first then shut the boat off, what is the purpose of this? thanks for any advise, i have been reading on here for a few days, you guys rock, how can i find an operators manual for this? simply by joining as a premium member?

On a Seadoo/rotax engine... if you turn on the water, when the engine isn't running... the water will flow back the exhaust, and fill the engine. So... he's right. BUT... you shoudln't run the boat for more than a minute or two if it's not IN the water. The reason for that is... the drive shaft seal relies on the lake water to keep it cool. If you run too long "on the hose" you can damage the seal.

Also... at 135 psi compression... you are looking at a rebuild soon. The 800 rotax engine should be 150 psi when it's healthy. But if the boat has been sitting for a while... take it out for a ride first. Then, when you get home, and the engine is cool. Check the compression again. (both plugs out, and the throttle open)

Since the boat is new to you... make sure you only run an API-TC type oil. Never run a TC-w3 oil in a rotax engine. It's a slow death to them. Also... if you don't' know what that last owner was burning... I would suggest draining the oil, and servicing the oil system... then re-filling it with a known oil

One last thing... DO NOT EVER try to "Jump-start" a seadoo. If you do... you may find that you killed the MPEM. (the main computer) They are very sensitive to over voltage.

Dr. Honda, when you say never jump start a sea doo are you saying to never jump off of another running engine or does that even include a portable battery pack?

the owners manual, I believe you can download from the seadoo site. the shop manual you can get here as a premium member. the shop manula is a MUST have.

Just had my Bris last week and little Jake is still sore.

Hey Jake, Did Old Doc Honda do your Briss? Be sure to keep it soaked in Castrol Super Clean, you wouldn't want the little fireman to get infected.

Especially not off of a jump box, don't ask me how I know.

Of course when dealing with little Jake, I only go to the best Doc in town. Doc prescribed a 50% solution of super clean. Doc even thru in a custom vinvl decal fer little jake that says BRP when he is "restin" and "Bombarier Recreational Products" when he is "workin" .

Kinda reminds me of an old joke, Wendy (Welcome to Jamaica and have a nice day). I might have to clean it up a bit and put it on Scooper's Joke thread.

A boost pack is normally OK... but I've known people who had issues using them.
