Ok, I finally picked up my 93 XP tonight, it looks to be in good shape physically, has the standard blackened grab bar and handle bar cover but otherwise it looks good.

The problem is the engine, it's been taken out and taken apart, I think I have everything but the cylinders as they were at the machine shop to get checked, it needs at least a .25 over bore and new pistons, looks like oil starvation in one cylinder. The head was damaged but I have another head in good shape.

Question is, what do you suggest for engine rebuild, I looked at SBT, price on a complete motor isn't that bad, cylinder exchange is good too...I also have a buddy who's a small engine mechanic and a Seadoo dealer down the street I'm just not sure what the best thing to do is?

I paid a whopping $0 for this thing so I don't mind putting a bit of $$ in the engine knowing it will last me a while once done.

That's actually pretty good, cheaper then what you can get from SBT. So then you get the cylinders bored and just need to assemble it, that's not bad at all Thanks for the link.

Other questions I have:

-Where is the best place to buy Hydro Turf?
-Can you paint the rear grab bar? It's kinda rubbery so not sure if it needs special stuff.
-I'm also thinking of upgrading the Sponsons, intake grate, pump nozzle I see Riva has most of this stuff is that a good place to deal with?

Snipes Korner...

Riva is one of the best places to buy kustom parts. They are well known in the racing world and offer a good variety of mods. From your engine to your pump.

As for the hydro turf, look below and click on the link to "snipes korner" and go to post 10. There, you'll find a link for your hydro turf and a complete how to do it yourself thread on buying this stuff by the sheet (I bought my Challenger purple for $35 bucks on close out special), making and cutting the templates yourself and saving a bundle!..........

Cool, thanks for the tip on the HydroTurf, looks pretty good to me, why couldn't you just use the factory mat as the template, would save a lot of time no?

So I took a look at all of the parts, when I put the crank in the top half of the crank case and use the rods to rotate it it turns really nice, none of the bearings seem loose and it turns that brass gear really nice as well so I might be ok there. Of course I'll have a machine shop take a look at it. So I might just need a re-bore and new pistons which isn't too bad, means more $$ for mods :)
