Just bought a 96 xp and have some issues

First: With the fuel selector "on" the ski bogs down at 45 mph. Turn the switch to "reserve" and the ski runs fine.

Second: I blew a hole in the fat hose coming off the muffler twice.

Everything seemed to be running fine on the "reserve" setting until the muffler hose blew out. Ski would hit about 55mph with no problem.

Where should I go first.

I would start by removing the fuel selector and cleaning it out, also check the hoses for trash. Do you have the grey fuel lines? If so replace them with the black ones from a parts house. About the hole in the hose I am not sure about, I'm sure one of the more experienced guys on this forum could help you with this problem.
