1. Is it generally problematic buying 10+ yr old Seadoos?
2. What is the difference in the 93 vs 96 yr model XPs
3. What is the Top Speed supposed to be on these, and the displacement?
4. Lastly, What was the 1st year and model Seadoo which had a marked improvement in torque, quick response throttle? Would that be the year fuel injection started, and what year was that?
Thank you, and feel free to offer any other thoughts.

1. Is it generally problematic buying 10+ yr old Seadoos?fuel lines, control cables, Variable Trim system, fuel sending unit, carbon seal and starter solonoid. Carbs older and may need complete rebuild
2. What is the difference in the 93 vs 96 yr model XPs 93=70hp 650 cc motor / 96= 110hp 800 cc powervalve motor
3. What is the Top Speed supposed to be on these, and the displacement?657cc/787cc
4. Lastly, What was the 1st year and model Seadoo which had a marked improvement in torque, quick response throttle? huge improvment in 1996 going to the 110hp powervalve [RAVE] motor. The X4 hull was very nimble and very poloar amongst racers. Still popular hull today. Then in 1998, the GSX Limited had the taller timing 947cc rotax motor. Another big step in performance Would that be the year fuel injection started, and what year was that?1998 GTX RFI
Thank you, and feel free to offer any other thoughts.

Good post!

Another good post 951, but I do tend to favor my 11 year old, 787cc engine. Although your correct in your answers, you could have added one more bit of info.

Although the motors may be 10 years old, the 787cc, powervalve engine, is one of the easiest engines to maintenance. There is only a simple electronics package and very simple 2-cycle engine with a rotary valve timed to twin Mikuni carbs.

So, if you look at the care of this engine verses say, oh, a 951 direct injected or rotax fuel injected engine with the engine managment system, ........which is like trouble shooting an F-14 Tomcat's tail hook that won't drop down when it needs to land on a carrier..........I'd take the 10 year old motor.........

I just had to do that RX951......the 787cc Rotax is my engine of choice. Sorry.:biggrinjester:

Thank you for the reply..Guess the 96 and 93 wont be riding together..

Thanks for the info, that was very good. I only have about $1200 in both machines with trailer (thanks to the barter deal), so I couldnt be too choosy, but sounds like the 93 will be left behind for sure. I did ride one once which had such great low end power, almost like my KTM dirt bike. I know it was newer than these, but is there anything I can do to make either of these bikes pull noticeably quicker, especially the 93 model? Im sure the top end is very limited due to HP, and maybe I just need to dump the 93 and get another 110 hp ride so they can hang together. I mostly just hope they keep running after reading that list of potential problems.
Thanks again.. one last thing, Is anything as much fun as flying over wakes on a Jet Ski, cause I havent found it if there is! Also, is it always a bad thing to be jumping the wake behind a boat, even if I stay back (I think the law here is 100 ft). Dont want to give Jet Skiers a bad rep, but its just so much fun!
