Hello, my brother passed away sometime ago, and my mother had stored by brother's 97 Seadoo jetski in her garage. It has not moved in over 8-9 years. I am wondering if anyone is familiar with the San Jose, CA area, and would be able to recommend a reputable shop for me to go to. I don't have a clue what the going rate is, or what kind of questions to ask. If anyone out there has any advice for me, I would sure appreciate it!

Hey cbthree. Welcome to the forum. Everybody here is friendly and willing to help on any Seadoo problem you may have.

I'm not familiar with your area but there could be somethings you could do to get this thing running again. Seadoo dealers usually charge about $90/hour and most private mechanics will charge you about $65/ hour. So if your just dying to spend the cash, then take it somewhere. If not, and your somewhat mechanically inclined, then there are some things you can do yourself.

First thing I would do is get all the old fuel out. Start replacing all the fuel lines with black fuel lines from an auto parts store and go to town cleaning all the filters out. There is one inline filter and two small filters inside the carbs, getting to these takes some time but there is plenty of info on this process on this site.
Here's a link. http://seadooforum.com/showthread.php?t=5563

Get you a new battery and change out the spark plugs and see if it fires up. If it does kill it immediately because it will over heat if you do not use the water hose when running it out of water.

These are things the dealer should do and then go from there. If you decide to get this thing going yourself then I would highly recommend joining as a Premium member, at least until you get this thing running. You get access to the same shop manuals that the dealer will use and has step by step info on anything you want to do with your Seadoo. Also, you'll get first dibs on your post and expert advise the quickest way possible.

Let us know how you make out and if you have any other questions.

Ryan
