I was wondering, lets say I drained the battery down while anchored for example, could I jump start it with a portable jumper pack, I have been reading some that it could damage the computer? What would be the proper procedure for the above possible problem, just wanted to be prepared. I have have a portable jumper pack with me just incase, but was wondering if I could even use it?

I recommend you to NOT use it. I just purchased a boat from a friend that did the same thing, and fried the MPEM (computer), and a new one is $1202.49 but I was able to get Mike (allthingscustom) from the site to rebuild it for $175.

It's o.k. to use the battery pack....

I don't know how you fried the mpem with a jumper pack, because that's not why MPEM's get fried.

Even in the manual, it gives the procedure for jumping the Rotax engine.

The users who have experienced the mis-fortune of blowing their mpem while jump starting, did so because the vehicle they were starting from, was left running. By doing this, your allowing the alternator, generator, or magneto from that other vehicle, to supply your electrical system with 14 volts DC power. Under normal starting conditions, your electrical system is only using 12 vdc.

So, if it becomes necessary to jump start your PWC/boat from another source, then I recommend you keep a jumper pack handy, or make sure, the battery your jumping from is NOT running. To eliminate the use of either..........get off your cheap butt and buy a new battery. And if your running the battery down while trying to crank, remember, if it doesn't hit in 30 seconds of turning the engine over, something is wrong.......find the root cause.

Well the battery is pretty new, I was just wondering in a just incase scenario. So it should be ok with a jump pack, if it every happened?

buy a battery switch, that way you always have one good battery, and yes jumper pack is safe...
