Jetski Flipping business (one day)

So I was wondering if there was any advice I could get from the guys one here that flip jetskis as a side business... I really enjoy working on them and I plan on "cutting my teeth" on 2-stroke, late 90s/early 2000s skis. I'm just looking for something to make money in my spare time. What do you guys think? Is it worth it?

yes, just check out the 2 stroke forum, everyday you see atleasy 2-3 threads on flipped ski's that get brought back from the graveyard, to a brand new look! i always do resto projects on anything i can get my hands on that i can do myself!!!

I know! a couple of those forum threads belong to me as well. I have a '95 GTX and a '97 XP. The GTX Runs but I think I got burned on the 97. Guy said that the carbs just needed cleaning and so far I know the Carbs are dirty.... DIRTY. I think the Comp. is bad, and I'm pretty sure the VTS housing is shot. Taking it to a local jetski mech to have it diagnosed, the prolly gonna send off the MPEM to Minnetonka4me to have it tested. I wanna see where I'm at before I decide whether or not to punt this ski haha.

about how long do skis in your area sit before you make a sale? Anyone in North Alabama flip?

My advice is read read read...no one likes a guy who flips skis and provides zero value to said sale.

I make many sales just on my knowledge base. Customers like someone who is intimate with each ski. (man those exhaust outlets are HOT...lol ;) )

she's a lady ;)

Yeah, that's just not me, this is something I really enjoy tinkering around with, and I have this weird tick. If I like something I have to know everything there is to know about it haha. So along with the reading, you guys will see me around here for a while, so sorry for any annoying grilling in advance haha

Look for a good engine, but cosmetically ugly. Clean it up.. and make $$$

Bad engine... hard to make money on it, other than parting it out.

Thanks for the input doc, by the way I read your thread about custom vinyl. That a really cool thing to do! I used to build websites in my spare time, so I can imagine that some of the custom logo can be pretty tricky haha. I may contact you for some vinyl for my 95 GTX sometime soon. Trying to get her ready for the summer!
